Enthalpies of hydrolysis of dimethoxymethane and 1,1-dimethoxyethane

Abstract

Measurements of the enthalpies of hydrolysis of liquid methylal and dimethyl-acetal at 25°C are reported. In conjunction with recent measurements of the enthalpies of formation of methylal and dimethyl-acetal, these data are used to derive values for the enthalpies of formation of gaseous formaldehyde and liquid acetaldehyde.
