Microbial transformation of sesquiterpenoids. Part II. Hydroxylation of liguloxide with Mucor parasiticus bain

Abstract

Microbial hydroxylation of liguloxide with Mucor parasiticus gave 7α-hydroxy-, 8α-hydroxy-, 3α-hydroxy-, 8β-hydroxy-, 9α-hydroxy-, and 2β,7α-dihydroxy-liguloxide. The results were compared with respect to steric considerations with the results previously obtained on hydroxylation of guaioxide, the C-4 epimer of liguloxide, with the same fungus.
