The phenol dyestuff of Liebermann as an acridan derivative

Abstract

An acridan dervative (III), 7-hydroxyspiro[acridine-9,1′-cyclohexa-2′,5′-diene]-2(9H),4′-dione, has been identified by spectroscopic techniques, as being the ‘phenol dyestuff’ of the Liebermann reaction.
