Naturally occurring quinones. Part XVII. Synthesis of lambertellin

Abstract

Lambertellin, 9-hydroxy-3-methylnaphtho[2,3-b]pyran-2,5,10-trione, has been synthesised by condensation of 2-hydroxy-8-methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone with ethyl α-formylpropionate.
