Molecular complexes of naphthalenes: nuclear magnetic resonance determinations of association constants for picrate formation

Abstract

An n.m.r. method has been used to determine association constants for the formation of some monosubstituted naphthalene picrates and the method has also been employed to determine enthalpies and entropies of formation for some of these systems. The results agree well with literature results obtained by optical spectroscopy and confirm that the distribution method yields maximum values.
