The conformational analysis of saturated heterocycles. Part XXIV. Hexahydro-1,3,5-triazines

Abstract

The electric dipole moments of some 1,3,5-trialkylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazines have been measured in cyclohexane solutions and interpreted in terms of their conformations. The tri-t-butyl compound exists to about 85% in the conformation with one of the t-butyl groups axial; this is the first example of an unconstrained t-butyl group preferring the axial position.
