Stopped-flow kinetics of the base hydrolysis of the cis-[Co(L)2(NH2Bun)-Cl]2+ ion (L = ethylenediamine)

Abstract

The base hydrolysis cis-[Co(en)2(NH2Bun)CI]2++ OH [graphic omitted] [Co(en)2(NH2Bun)OH]2++ CI has been studied at 25° and l= 0·5 mol l–1 over the range of base concentrations 0·025–0·50 mol l–1 using a stopped-flow technique. In contrast to some previous reports, the rate law –d[complex]/dt=k2[complex][OH] is obeyed over the whole basicity range employed with k2= 6·5 ± 0·3 mol–1 I s–1.
