Mössbauer spectrum of dichlorodimethylbis(pyridine N-oxide)tin(IV) in an externally applied magnetic field

Abstract

The sign of the quadrupolar interaction has been found to be positive for a six-co-ordinate organotin(IV) complex of known crystal structure, namely Me2SnCl2(C5H5NO)2. Taking the value of the quadrupole moment for the l =3//2 nuclear state of 119Sn to be –8 × 10–26 cm2, Vzz for this compound is negative.
