Binuclear organometallic compounds. Part I. The amine elimination reaction for synthesis of compounds containing bonds between elements of group IV and transition metals

Abstract

The scope of the reaction (i)(where L represents all the ligands attached to the metal M2 other than hydrogen, and R3M1–NMe2+ LM2H HNMe2+ R3M1–M2L (i), M1= Si, Ge, or Sn) has been examined. It is applicable for the preparation of metal–metal bonded compounds for a range of acidic and neutral hydrides, and for amido-derivatives of main-group and transition elements. The reaction proceeds more readily for acidic hydrides and for the amido-derivatives of tin. The mechanism of the reaction and some properties of the products are discussed.
