NN′-ethylenebis-(o-aminobenzylideneiminato)nickel(II) and its derivatives

Abstract

The title compound and several of its derivatives have been prepared; their properties, particularly with respect to geometry and magnetism, have been investigated. The compounds are found to be planar even when steric factors are unfavourable. The ligands are shown to exert a high ligand field, as large as if not larger than their salicylideneiminato-analogues. The preparation and properties of the parent diamino-diimino-compounds are described in the Appendix.
