Structure and stability of polyamine complexes. Crystal and molecular structures of bis[di-(3-aminopropyl) amine]nickel(II) perchlorate and bis[di(2-aminoethyl)amine]nickel(II) chloride monohydrate

Abstract

The crystal structures of bis[di-(3-aminopropyl)amine]nickel(II) perchlorate and of bis[di-(2-aminoethyl)amine]-nickel(II) chloride monohydrate have been determined by three-dimensional X-ray structure analysis. The ligand molecules co-ordinate in the equatorial planes of an octahedron and the cation geometry is close to C2. The bond distances and angles and chelated ring conformation are discussed in relation to the relative stabilities of the complex cations.
