A fluorine-19 nuclear magnetic resonance spectral study of some titanium tetrafluoride diadducts

Abstract

An 19F n.m.r. study of some diadducts of titanium tetrafluoride with some 4-substituted pyidine 1-oxides, 4-sub-stituted quinoline 1-oxides, and 6-substituted quinoline 1-oxides is reported. Correlations between 19F chemical shift and substituent constant values are discussed. Two geometrical isomers are observed for some of the complexes. The data are interpreted in terms of fluorine to metal π-bonding.
