An improved Beckmann cryoscopic method for sulphuric acid solutions. The use of dilute oleum as a cryoscopic solvent
Abstract
The Beckmann cryoscopic method has been improved so that the results it yields are comparable with the inherently more accurate equilibrium method. Calculations and experimental measurements show that the van't Hoff i-factor in dilute oleum solvents is a function of solute behaviour and the concentration of solute relative to the initial concentration of disulphuric acid in the solvent. The use of dilute oleum as a cryoscopic solvent is discussed.
