Pyrolysis of 4-chlorobut-1-ene
Abstract
The thermal decomposition of 4-chlorobut-1-ene has been studied between 374 and 424 °C in a static apparatus seasoned with allyl bromide. The pyrolysis was found to be of the first order in the initial stages of the reaction and independent of initial pressure. The first-order rate constant for the reaction CH2:CH·CH·CH2Cl → CH2:CH·CH:CH2+ HCl was given by log k(sec.–1)=(13·65 ± 0·35)–(55,000 ± 1100)/4·575T.
