Six-co-ordinate complexes of thiomorpholin-3-one with cobalt(II) and Group VIB metal carbonyls

Abstract

Six-co-ordinate complexes of thiomorpholin-3-one (tm) have been prepared and characterized by magnetic and spectroscopic techniques. From carbonyls of the Group VIB metals, diamagnetic compounds of the type [M(CO)4(tm)2](M = Cr, Mo, or W) were obtained. On the basis of i.r. and n.m.r. measurements it is suggested that the ligand is S-bonded and that the complexes have a cis-configuration. With CoX2nH2O (X = Cl, Br, or I) paramagnetic compounds of the type [Co(tm)6]X2,2H2O were obtained; these were also S-bonded.
