Raman spectra of the germyl ion and liquid ammonia

Abstract

The Raman spectra of the germyl and [2H3]germyl ions have been recorded in liquid ammonia and dimethoxyethane solutions. The spectra show that the ions have the expected pyramidal C3v structure.

The Raman spectrum of liquid ammonia has been re-examined and two bands in the spectrum have been reassigned. The spectrum of liquid [2H3] ammonia is also reported.
