Chromium(II) chemistry. Part VII. Complexes of 2-picolylamine and 8-aminoquinoline

Abstract

The chromium(II) complexes of 2-picolylamine(pic) and 8-aminoquinoline (amq)[Cr(pic)2Cl2], H2O, [Cr(pic)2Br2], [Cr(pic)2I2], [Cr(amq)2Cl2], H2O, and [Cr(amq)2I2] have temperature-independent magnetic moments of ca. 4·9 B.M., and their reflectance spectra show that they have tetragonally-distorted octahedral structures. The mono(amine) complexes [Cr(pic)Cl2], [Cr(pic)Br2], and [Cr(amq)Cl2], H2O have polymeric structures, and show magnetic interaction. No tris(amine) complexes could be prepared.
