Nickel(II), cobalt(II), and copper(II) complexes with N-methyl-p-nitroso-aniline and p-nitrosoaniline

Abstract

Transition-metal ion complexes with the ligands p-nitrosoaniline and N-methyl-p-nitrosoaniline have been prepared and studied. I.r. spectra, solution and mull visible spectra, magnetic moments, and molar conductances are reported. I.r. and n.m.r. evidence is presented for the presence of an equilibrium mixture of nitroso–oxime tautomers for the ligands and these results are interpreted in terms of the nitroso-moiety as the donor site.
