Additional information on the complex hydridochlorobis(triphenylphosphine)platinum(II) in the solid state and in solution

Abstract

[Pt(H)Cl(PPh3)2] has been obtained in three different crystalline modifications which have the same empirical formula but whose i.r. spectra for the solid state differ. The influence of the method of preparation and of the recrystallization procedures on the crystalline modification is examined. I.r. and n.m.r. spectra of solutions in different solvents confirm the existence of only the trans structure in solution.
