Nuclear magnetic resonance studies on fluorine-containing compounds. Part II. Reactions of niobium pentafluoride with organic donor molecules

Abstract

Two new compounds of niobium pentafluoride, MeCN,NbF₅ and Me₂NCHO,NbF₅ have been prepared. l.r. and ¹⁹F and ⁹³Nb n.m.r. studies on these and other niobium pentafluoride adducts with simple organic donor molecules have shown that in the 2 : 1 adducts the product is NbF₄L₄+NbF₆^– and that in the 1 : 1 adducts the product is very probably NbF₅L.
