Reactions of phosphorus and sulphur fluorides with dialkylamino- and alkylthio-derivatives

Abstract

The reactions of phosphorus pentafluoride and trifluoride with NN′-thiobis(dimethylamine) and of sulphur tetrafluoride with dialkylaminophosphine and phosphine oxide derivatives have been studied; in many cases there is exchange of fluorine for a dialkylamino-group. Phosphorus pentafluoride reacts after initial formation of adducts. The reactions between the fluorides and methyl silylmethyl sulphide and trimethyl phosphorotrithioites give methylthio-derivatives in the case of phosphorus fluorides but complex series of products for sulphur tetrafluoride. Phosphorus pentafluoride reacts with methanethiol to give thiophosphorus derivatives.
