Studies in ion solvation in non-aqueous solvents and their aqueous mixtures. Part XII. Solubility product of silver chloride in 20·22 and 33·4%(w/w) methanol–water mixtures at 25°; and revision of earlier data

Abstract

The molal thermodynamic solubility product, KAgCl, of silver chloride at 25° has been obtained, by e.m.f. measurements, in 20·22 and 33·4%(w/w) methanol–water mixtures, and its molar free energy of transfer, ΔG°t, from water to these mixtures calculated. The corresponding measurements for the 10% and 43·12% mixtures, and a 20% dioxan–water mixture, reported earlier in the series, have been repeated and small changes in KAgCl have resulted.
