Crystal structure of the green isomer of trichloro-1,5-diamino-3-azapentanechromium(III)

Abstract

The crystal structure of the green isomer of trichloro-1,5-diamino-3-azapentanechromium(III), CrCl3 dien [dien = H2N(CH2)2NH(CH2)2NH2], has been determined from photographic data collected about two crystallographic axes. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/n(C2h5) with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions a= 8·054, b= 10·065, c= 11·52 Å, β= 90·98°. Parameters describing all non-hydrogen atoms have been refined by full-matrix least-squares techniques to R 10·1% for 918 intensities. The geometry about the chromium atom is octahedral with the ligands disposed in the fac-configuration.
