Thermodynamics of the actinide elements. Part II. Heats of solution in aqueous hydrochloric acid of PaCl4(c), PaBr4(c), Pal4(c), and UCl4(c)
Abstract
The following heats of solution in aqueous hydrochloric acid have been measured at 25·00°± 0·05° : PaCl4(c) in 1M-HCl, –55·59 ± 0·06 kcal. mole–1, and in 6M-HCl, –42·29 ± 0·06 kcal. mole–1; PaBr4(c) in 1M-HCl, –65·44 ± 0·13 kcal. mole–1, and 6M-HCl, –51·70 ± 0·24 kcal. mole–1; Pal4(c) in 1M-HCl, –75·94 ± 0·17 kcal. mole–1; UCl4(c) in 1M-HCl, –54·46 ± 0·23 kcal. mole–1. These results are compared with the existing data for the tetrahalides of other actinide elements.
