Nitrogen nuclear magnetic resonance. Part I. The nitroso (nitrosyl) group

Abstract

14 N Chemical shifts are reported for the nitrosonium ion, the nitrosyl halides, dimethyl nitrosamine, methyl nitrite, dinitrogen trioxide, ethyl and trifluoromethyl thionitrites, trifluoromethyl and heptafluoropropyl nitroso-compounds, and nitrosobenzene. The correlation of the shifts with the wavelength of the lowest-energy u.v. or visible absorption (usually nā†’Ļ€*) in these compounds is discussed.
