The nature of bonding in silver–olefin complexes: an electron spin resonance study

Abstract

Paramagnetic species have been detected in γ-irradiated silver perchlorate–cycloalkene complexes at room temperature and identified as Ag+ cycloalkenyl radical, with spin density on Ag ranging from 4·6% to 1·5% and in a decreasing order with increasing size of the alkene rings.
