New evidence on the nature of the intermediate leading to aryne adducts in decompositions of acylarylnitrosamines

Abstract

The species leading to the formation of an aryne adduct in the decomposition of certain acylaryl-nitrosamines in the presence of 2,3,4,5-tetraphenylcyclopentadienone in benzene is bidentate rather than monodentate having the same reactivity as true benzyne towards various arynophiles, excluding furan.
