The structure of amidinophosphonium salts

Abstract

The synthesis of amidinotriphenylphosphonium salts from the very reactive and novel imide bromides R1N[double bond, length as m-dash]C(Br)R2 and iminophosphoranes Ph3P[double bond, length as m-dash]NR is reported, and variable-temperature n.m.r. spectra prove a fluxional structure for the amidinophosphonium salts.
