The influence of steric factors in diazoalkane–pyranosid-2-ulose reactions

Abstract

Comparison of the products from reactions of diazomethane and diazoethane with pyranosid-2-uloses provides new information about the importance of steric factors in diazoalkane–cyclic ketone interactions; the reaction of diazoethane with pyranosid-2-uloses is a potentially useful route to higher branched-chain sugars.
