Rearrangement and fragmentation reactions in substituted alkoxy- and alkylperoxy-radicals inferred from solute effects in the fricke radiation dosimeter

Abstract

Two new free-radical reactions involving rearrangement of α-hydroxy-alkoxy-radicals and fragmentation of β-hydroxy-alkylperoxy-radicals have been inferred from the study of the influence of various hydroxylic organic solutes on the radiation-chemically induced oxidation of FeSO4 and on the oxidation of FeSO4 by H2O2.
