The photo-addition of naphthalene and pyrrole. Investigation of structures of products and reaction mechanism
Abstract
Photolysis of naphthalene and pyrrole in ethanol or acetonitrile gives 2-(1-Δ2dihydronaphthyl)pyrrole and 2-(3-Δ1-dihydronaphthyl)pyrrole as major products, and these are formed via hydrogen transfer from the pyrrole NH group in a singlet-state reaction.
