Peroxyacetyl nitrate. A novel reagent for oxidation of organic compounds

Abstract

The reaction of peroxyacetyl nitrate with olefins yields epoxides, nitromethane, and methyl nitrite, the latter two products possibly arising from free-radical intermediates.
