Mechanism of oxidation of trans-azobenzenes with peroxybenzoic acid

Abstract

Analysis of substituent effects on the rate and the product isomer ratio in the oxidation of trans-azobenzenes suggests a simple one-step mechanism which does not involve an oxadiaziridine intermediate.
