The backbone rearrangement of des-A-steroids: some mechanistic aspects

Abstract

Using deuteriated substrate and reagent, it was shown that the backbone rearrangement of des-A-steroidal hydroxy-olefins does not proceed through protonation–deprotonation of intermediate olefins or cyclopropanes.
