Acid-catalysis of photochemical reactions

Abstract

Several examples of acid-catalysed photo-chemical reactions are reported, e.g. the formation of phenylsuccinic anhydride from benzene and maleic anhydride: these constitute a photochemical counterpart of the Friedel–Crafts reaction.
