The meso-(±)- and erythrothreo-dichloro-alkane equilibria

Abstract

Equilibration of the 2,3-dichlorobutane or 2,3-dichloropentane diastereomers at 80° leads to equilibrium mixtures in which the (±)- and threo-diastereomers are more stable in relation to their meso- and erythro- forms than was previously thought.
