Decomposition of methanesulphenyl chloride in the presence of amines

Abstract

Methanesulphenyl chloride reacts in the presence of secondary amines by heterolytic cleavage of the sulphur–chlorine bond yielding sulphenamides, and by an elimination of hydrogen chloride giving thioformaldehyde, and thence further products.
