Reaction of pepsin with 14C-labelled substrates

Abstract

When pepsin is incubated with benzyloxy-carbonyl-L-glu–[14C]L-tyr ethyl ester, [14C]tyr ethyl ester remains bound to the enzyme, but when benzyloxy-carbonyl[14C]-L-glu–L-tyr ethyl ester is used as a substrate, no radioactivity remains associated with the protein.
