An automated method for the determination of lactic acid

Abstract

A simple automated method for the enzymatic determination of L(+)lactic acid in biological material is described. It is adapted from an earlier manual method and involves the oxidation of lactic acid by nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide in the presence of lactate dehydrogenase. The reduced nucleotide thus formed is monitored spectrophotometrically at 340 nm. The sampling rate is twenty per hour.
