The determination of harmful trace elements in manganese dioxide for dry cell use
Abstract
Atomic-absorption spectrophotometry is found to be a suitable method for determining trace elements in manganese dioxide ores, provided the trace elements are separated from the predominating manganese. This is effected by using an ion-exchange separation technique whereby complex anions are formed, which are selectively eluted with hydrochloric acid-isopropyl alcohol mixtures of various concentrations.
