Preparation of standard titanium(IV) solutions

Abstract

The preparation of standard titanium(IV) solutions from conventional standards is critically reviewed and compared with the superior potentialities of the newly proposed primary standard ammonium dioxalato-oxotitanate(IV)(ammonium titanyl oxalate), (NH4)2TiO(C2O4)2.H2O. Two simple, rapid procedures for preparing titanium(IV) solutions are discussed, one of which gives an alkali metal free solution. These procedures are equally good and compare favourably with the methods at present in use.
