Testing the agreement of data with a kinetic mechanism

Abstract

In the study of chemical kinetics it is often important to test whether or not a particular relationship between the extent of reaction and time accurately fits the experimental data. The appropriate test depends on what the alternative hypothesis is. The standard tests are stated and a new one is given which is appropriate when a general alternative hypothesis applies and replicate measurements for the same times cannot be obtained.
