Solid-liquid phase equilibria in the sodium + potassium system

Abstract

Thermal methods were used to determine with high precision, the solid-liquid phase equilibria diagram for the sodium + potassium system. The melting points of the pure metals and the solid solubility limits were better established by the use of ultra-pure elements and precision thermometry. Considerable effort was expended in a search for intermetallic compounds. No compounds other than Na2K were formed.
