Heat of formation of boron phosphide

Abstract

The heat of formation of boron phosphide has been determined calorimetrically by comparing the heat of combustion of boron phosphide in fluorine with that of stoichiometric mixtures of boron and phosphorus. A value of ΔH°f 298=–27.6 ± 1.1 kcal/mol (from β-rhombohedral boron and white phosphorus) has been obtained.
