Flow-cell studies of thermal diffusion in liquids. Part 4.—CCl4+ benzene and cyclohexane + benzene systems

Abstract

Experimental measurements of thermal diffusion at 25°C in the liquid systems CCl4+ benzene, and cyclohexane + benzene are reported. The results for these systems and for CCl4+ cyclohexane3 are compared with three theoretical calculations. It is deduced that these theories cannot be used to calculate Soret coefficients; even the sign of the effect may be wrongly predicted.
