Abstract

The sporophore of Boletus (Suillus) bovinus(Linn. ex Fr.) contains a new benzoquinone as the major metabolite which has been identified as 2,5-dihydroxy-3-geranylgeranyl-1,4-benzoquinone (I). Atromentin, amitenone, and variegatic acid have also been identified as minor constituents.
