Nitrene. Part V. Reaction of 4-(2-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives with triethyl phosphite

Abstract

The reaction of 4-(4,5-dialkoxy-2-nitrophenyl)-3,5-diethoxycarbonyl-1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethylpyridines with triethyl phosphite gave a mixture of the corresponding benzo[c][2,7]naphthyridine (XIII), indole (XIV), and β-carboline (XV) derivatives, the structures of which were elucidated by spectroscopic measurements.
