Iodination of fluorenone by N-iodosuccinimide

Abstract

N-Iodosuccinimide in sulphuric acid and a mixture of silver sulphate and iodine in sulphuric acid both convert fluorenone into 2-iodofluorenone and 2,7-di-iodofluorenone. The first method appears to be preferable.
