Aminomethinylation of aromatic amines

Abstract

Anthranilonitriles react with s-triazine or formamide to give 4-aminoquinazolines. In the presence of secondary alkylamines the intermediate aminomethinylated amines formed with s-triazine can be trapped, and aryldialkyl-formamidines result. The scope of this formamidine has been investigated.
