Studies on heteroaromaticity. Part XXIX. Syntheses of 1-furyl-3-phenylpropane-1,3-dionato- and 1-thienylbutane-1,3-dionato-metal chelates and their SE reactions.

Abstract

Tris-[1-(2-thienyl)-butane-1,3-dionato]- and tris-[1-(2-furyl)-3-phenylpropane-1,3-dionato]-cobalt(III) chelate and -chromium(III) chelate were nitrated and brominated in order to compare the aromatic character of the heterocyclic ring with that of the chelate ring as judged by their SE reactions. cis- and trans-Geometrical isomers of tris-[1-(2-furyl)-3-phenylpropane-1,3-dionato]cobalt(III) chelate were separated by chromatography, and their structures were elucidated by n.m.r. spectroscopy.
